and Randi Førsund
Born February 8, 1975 in Bergen, from Hyllestad in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway.
The Revenge is my first screenplay. I started working on it at the age of 12.
After studying Drama and Theatre Arts at Queen Margaret University College in Edinburgh, I headed for Reykjavik, Iceland, in 1999. There I continued my studies of the Nordic Middle Ages and further developed my film project. I had by then already established contact with the internationally-known director and producer Fridrik Thor Fridriksson, who liked the story and believed in the project.
With him on my team I decided to go all out to realize the film.
Fridriksson has always viewed the project as a Norwegian project, and in 2007 renowned Norwegian Sami director Nils Gaup joined the team.
It has been a battle to succeed with this project, which I have built from the ground up. Not least the fact that I am debuting with a full-length feature film, Norway's biggest production ever. But my strength is that since my early 20s I have been fortunate enough to work with established and recognized directors and thus avoided the long process of getting such heavyweights to sign on to a project. In that sense the screenplay has never been rejected.
The Revenge is based on facts around the life of King Magnus Barelegs (1073-1103), thus the project also has a historical side.
The Revenge is projected to premiere in Dublin in 2015.
If we stick to that target, the film will have been produced in around 15 years, the same time a historical film with a budget half the size of The Revenge normally takes. This project also differs from other film projects in that almost the entire pre-production phase has been covered by the media.
Later in 2012 I will publish the biography of King Magnus.
My roles in The Revenge: Executive producer, screenwriter and idea, as well as the role of Gunnhild.
